Gettysburg Winter Campout 2014

Posted on Feb 15 2015 - 9:40pm

Tuckahoe BSRTroop 219 Spent two memorable nights in the Tuckahoe Scout Reservation just a short drive to Gettysburg Battlefields.  The chance to learn about the American Civil War and stand on the places where history played out was thrilling.  Combine some Scout Skills with it and you could not ask for a better weekend...unless of course the cold gets to you!

We hiked the Johnny Reb trail - a 5+ mile trek that began at the visitor's center and took us through the monuments making stops to learn how the battles were set up.  We climbed to the top of the look-out tower where you could see all of the landscape from the town to the National Cemetery.  Although we were in conditions more like Valley Forge, we completed it with enthusiasm.

Camp Cards are Here!

Posted on Feb 10 2015 - 12:52am

Camp Cards are a great way to earn your own way in Scouting.  With the full 50% commission getting credited directly to your Scout Bucks account, selling 150 cards will pay your own way to summer camp.  Also it is not too early to start thinking about paying your way to the 2017 National Jamboree.  With the addition this year of an Acme $5 coupon, parents should think about buying multiple cards to get FREE MONEY to send your son to camp!  For example, if you buy 20 cards for $100, you will get your $100 back in groceries over your next 20 shopping trips to Acme PLUS your son gets credited with $50 towards his summer camp bill.  Sounds like FREE MONEY to me!  Camp Card distribution begins this Thursday at our Winter Court of Honor & Pot Luck Dinner.
