Hoagie Day 2015

Posted on May 11 2015 - 2:53pm

Like a well-oiled machine, troop 219 fed the masses with delicious, fresh hoagies!  The crew showed up bright and early and cranked out nearly 400 sandwiches.  The general concensus was that they were GREAT!  It was a continuation of a Troop 219 Tradition and an undertaking like no other fundraiser that we do.  Many hands make light work so we were able get the job done in tiime for pick ups!

2015 Constellation District Camporee

Posted on May 6 2015 - 12:07am

Small but mighty!  Unfortunately due to the Council Merit Badge College going on the same weekend, only a small group of Troop 219 Scouts experienced this year's Camporee - Justin leading the Nyan Cat patrol of Brady, Gill & Josh.  These boys should be proud of their accomplishments earning a Third Place Ribbon in "Keep it Up", a knot-tying competition, and a First Place Ribbon in "Treasure Chest", a combination scavenger hunt, brainteasers, general Scouting knowledge, and identifying knots, Scouting patches & nuts in the "What's It? Boxes".  Also although it did not win an award, their creativity of putting together a dessert using Pop Tarts, trail mix, Rice Crispies and pancake syrup certainly got the attention of the judges, paticularly since by the time it was cooked it looked like raw meat (fault the Strawberry Poptarts)!   Once again Justin did a fantastic job as Patrol Leader earning the special recognition Leadership Ribbon.  Finally as a troop we must know our knots pretty well.  Justin came away with the Patrol Leader knot tying award getting six of six knots tied correctly in just over one minute.  However, Mr. Bryan is not quite over-the-hill yet walking away with the Scoutmaster knot tying award - six of six knots in 38 seconds!  Camporee pictures will be uploaded later this week.

High Adventure on the Delaware

Posted on Apr 28 2015 - 7:00am

Scouts from Troop 219 endured frigid nighttime temperatures, 18 miles of paddling, primitive camping and strong currents, but in the end we had a great trip.  They worked together to make it so as they were well prepared to do.  Two nights of camping and two days of paddling along the Delaware River was an easy task for this group of seasoned scouts.
